Something for the new OS?

Something for the new OS?

2002-02-19 by heinrich22001

I am sure, many XX-7 users would appreciate these features:

1. quick and easy arpeggio programming: instead of going through that
process step by step it would be a vast improvement to record a
phrase on a certain track and assign the result as arpeggio to a
preset. If a 32-step-limit was necessary (as it is know), the phrase
assigned could be cut off after 32 notes to fit automatically.

2. If there was a chance to mute/unmute the 32 channels of each track
one could easily record different drum phrases(eg. kick phrases on
track 1, snare phrases on track 2, hihat phrases on track 3 etc.)
starting all at the same position but being muted all except one.
That way you could quickly build up new patterns by muting and
unmuting different channels on each track (as long as not the same
channels are unmuted for sure)

Any chance to see those features in the future?

Heinrich

The new Yamaha Motif series synths have this feature I believe, pretty cool.

As does Digital Performer software. (I got my XL-7 for the sounds, can'cha
tell? But I've been happily surprised by the sequencing and features.)

XL-7 has the "keyboard" -- It's frustrating with the Proteus-1 rack module
I got used, that you have to hook up something external just to check out
the sounds. (Tho an external keyboard is preferable for performance.)

Also, the XL-7 has more space for additional cards. I got the MoPhatt, the
World one and the Somebody-or-otherski orchestra one (which didn't work --
bad card.)

And it's got more knobs. So there.

I got the XL-1 & the Mo'Phatt , right when they came out , but now
i want to sell them & buy an expanded XX-7 .
Was just a tiny lil' bit bothered when they anounced the XX-7
series just a couple months after the XL-1 & the Mo'Phatt came
out
But that's life i guess - or technology....
