Swan Song

Some time ago my MP7 started seizing and rebooting and then finally not booting up at all. I got some very thoughtful advice from this forum on repairing the 'dried solder joints' which I followed but sadly was not up to the task and made it worse. I picked up a Pro2K in the hopes of making do with an external controller and sequencer, but we all know that was just a dream. The immediacy was lost and performance suffered. So I found another MP7 on Craigslist with some minor problems on the front panel - combined the top of my broken one with the new one - and was back in business. I added the XL7 ROM, which I like a lot. And the old one still lights up and decorates my fireplace like a digital yule log. (No kidding) Well, I'm writing today to say that I am back out of business. My Franken-MP7 started seizing and rebooting (after leaving it on for hours). It's got to be reliable to be part of the live set so out it comes. I'm so saddened by this but that's part of what makes these machines so special; you have to take the good with the bad.
