Save all Pattern and Song data via SysEx

Save all Pattern and Song data via SysEx

2016-03-19 by mindkil@...

I would like to have a complete backup of XL-7 Multisetup, Pattern, Song and Preset data on a MacOSX computer. I downloaded the SysEx librarian, which should do the job, but as I checked the XL-7 manual I see that only the Multisetup and Preset data are saved like this, is it correct?

How can I save also the Sequencer (Pattern + Song) data?

If I need to back up the data from the saved SysEx, I have just to send it back to the XL-7?

E-Loader is written in Java, so in theory it should work on Mac OS X as well.

Thanks for the tip. I already used the E-loader on an old Windows PC left for these compatibility purposes, but was hoping for a pure MacOSX solution.

I don't recall anyone reporting they got e-loader to work under OSX (though maybe there is someone somewhere who got it to work. Gotta have a legacy PC for our legacy E-Mu gear! (That is, until such time that someone develops an on-line/mobile solution.) One of these days I will try to connect my Win 98SE PC to the usb port to see if it will work with e-loader there. I just cannot seem to get the usb transfers working under XP.

Yeah, that is probably something we have to get used to. I do keep one Win XP PC solely for SCSI saving/loading, floppy formatting and similar, so I can use it for XL-7 backups also. Thought XL-7 is not 'that' old machine, and some contemporary computer connection can be made.

Thanks for the infos!

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
