Synching up

Synching up

2002-04-29 by Jonathan El-Bizri

Hi,
Is anyone out there using a pc with their xx-7? I'm just about to add a laptop running Reason and/or Live to my truly ridiculous one man rig. I was looking at second hardware sequencer, but software makes much more sense going forward. Any advice?
I was thinking of using the triggers on the xl-7 to control tracks in reason, though 16 is a rather paltry number. Any suggestions on a supplementary controller - for the xl-7 as well as the pc?
It's a pity that the USB port doesn't do midi - I'm probably going to have to go out and by a USB midi port and add all that extra cabling into the equation :<
Thanks,
bIz

I always found that Midi Yoke & Ztracker were pretty solid. thought
the interface is made for a programmer, it's quite versitile ....
For a hardware sequencer, check out the (becomming vintage) Alesis
MMT-8 --- They're pretty solid if you can get one with a fresh OS
installed.

as for synching up i dont deal with that at all, just spent alot of
cash to get off the computer once and for all. But when looking for
midi controllers I would have to recomend you look at doepfer. They
have dedicated controllers with up to 64 knobs!!! and thats all
thats on em.

what more could you want?!

I use my XL-7 with a PC all the time (mostly Cubase though) and it syncs
fine. Not sure about using triggers to do the track thing in Reason
though, seems feasible.
