Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Hi there,

is it true that EMU has promoted the new 1.31 OS focussing the beats 
mode, but MP-7 users even don't have bts presets to try this mode 
(dont't know about XL-7 situation)? When I e-mailed to EMU what to do 
(download MoPhatt Presets from emu.com or sth. completely different) 
they only answered that there are no bts presets in the MP-7. So how 
can I check this feature or do I have to buy the XL-7 or better stop 
using EMU products?

There's no BTS presets per se, but you can make any preset into a BTS one 
by assigning a bts riff to it in your Preset Edit menu.  See the FAQ.

Yeah I was pretty excited about bts until I actaully started using it. 
It's not BAD at all, just not as flexible as I was hoping.  Emu knows that 
we want more control over them, I'm sure they've got something up their 
collective sleeves :)

At the other hand, beats presets is not that important in the XX-7's 
since it has a powerfull internal sequencer. To tell the truth I 
can't see any reason to use the quite limited beats mode when the XX-
7's has a much more powerfull sequencer which you can use the same 
way - oh, except that you can program your own patterns.

Both the XL-7 and MP-7 has support for beats mode now when OS 1.31 is 
released.

But none of the standard roms inside the XL-7 and MP-7 has any bts 
presets, so you'll have to use expansion roms in order to use the 
feature.

At the other hand, beats presets is not that important in the XX-7's

...program yor own patterns with the XX-7 that is. You're much more 
limited when working with beats presets.
