New rEalm Wishlist (+ a feasible way to megamix?)

New rEalm Wishlist (+ a feasible way to megamix?)

2002-05-15 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

- A second filter per layer. While I know this one is highly unlikely, it would be so nice to even have the simplest of filters to use after the primary filter. Switchable between two types, HP and LP, would be great! Many times I find myself with this awesome sounding patch that fits my patterns perfectly. However, once I take out live I suddenly realize there's all this subsonic information going on, that slaughters my live playing. Being able to wack out the lows quickly would be great. I guess another way to put this, would be to include a software based HP cut switch assignable per Track/channel. Or call it a shelving EQ, etc.

- The option to make the knobs in Quick Edit mode switchable between relative (ala Yamaha), absolute (which they are currently), and even better a mode where the current value isn't changed until you pass that point in the knobs range. This one is a biggy on the rEalm wish list, as it would come in so handy live, as well as in the studio. Switching between many patterns in a live setting means that more than likely you're never going to remember the exact position of every knob of every Preset in every Pattern. For the life of me, unless it's a hardware issue, I can't see why manufacturers don't make their knobs respond this way, as there's no downside to this way of working and it's far more intuitive\u2026

- A way to switch out a track in one Pattern, for a track in another Pattern, all without stopping playback. Say during playback you want to switch to a new Pattern, but don't want to do it so suddenly as to be completely noticeable that it's a completely new Pattern (the way it currently is). Instead, you could Press EDIT + TRACK SELECT/TRIGGER to bring up a new screen that would be laid out similar to the Mix Output Page in the Global Edit Menu ala;

Channel 02A: Send2->Main

The new screen could be laid out like:

Channel 02A: P:002 Trk: 04

Meaning that in the Current Pattern, Channel 02A will now be assigned Track 4 from Pattern 002, to take effect the next time the pattern loops around. Completely switching to a new Pattern would reset all alternate assignments to those saved originally with the pattern. I wouldn't even care about the different EFX types being wrong, it would be a worthwhile compromise. In case you haven't guessed, this is my attempt to give the XX-7's a "megamix mode", but it seems like it could work. Emu? ;Others?

Dude,

Did you sent this wish list to EMU or do they check requests here. I
hope they do that. This is my first EMU product and I am already new
loyal customer. If they want to keep their loyal customers for a long
time (build there business) I hope they open their ears to the
customers. I want to see EMU here for the next 30 years (Happy
Birthday By The Way EMU %%%%$$$$ 30 years $$$$%%%%%).

Thank you

Emu regularly checks this list, and some of our recommendations have
already been implemented into the new OS's. You have no worries about emu
listening to us, they're regular posters and some damn friendly people...

RE: [xl7] Re: New Andre Wishlist (+ a feasible way to write trax?)

2002-05-15 by Andre Lewis

Ok, Here's my addition to the wishlist: A pause button enhancement, and some
other stuff:

1) The pause button should cause your girlfriend to suddenly get preoccupied in
a surprise marathon of her favorite TV series with NO COMMERCIALS! I'd say
about twenty hours ought to do it. It should also deliver fine French dinners
to her. Barring this it should pop you and your gear into an alternate universe
where you can secretly work for days on end without keeping anything tidy and
still pop back in mid nag.

2) There should definitely be a Barry White mode where the audio waves modulate
our voices perfectly to sound like Barry White whenever we get in trouble for
not coming to bed early enough. Also good for bachelors.

3) There should be an auto patch mode where you hit a button and the Command
Stations actually rewires your whole studio, including putting up foam
treatments and placing your monitors correctly.

4) The Command Stations should have a button that neutralizes gear lust, or if
it can't do that it should apply for a credit card and purchase the suddenly
extremely necessary piece of gear.

5) There should be an option where the Command Stations make you smarter, so
when someone asks what inspired you to write your track you can state how Niche
was the primary influence, however you have taken glib nods towards the Monkeys,
the Beatles and William Shatner and added a diatribe with the compositional
styles of Bach and Puff Daddy.

6) There should be a beer slipcover available, something with clips for the
sides and with splashguards for the keys. It should also keep your beer cold,
but have autodetect temperature ranges for different kinds of beer, liqueurs,
what have you.

I think that's about it for now, I'm sure I'll think up some other stuff as soon
as I calm my girlfriend down or figure out how to sneak an extra 20 hours a day
into a 24 hour day.
