NOTE

NOTE

2002-05-20 by Stéphane KAY

Hi

On my opinion, the most useful basic feature of the XL-7 is under

EDIT PATERN / NOTE

-> You can select a note of the specified track (T...),
   if you put the cursor under the sign
   <->

then,

-> You'll be able to
   # set the LENGTH of the note
   # modify the note
   # move forward / backward the note

This is completing the GRID RECORD/EDIT mode.

I search a long time before finding this basic feature :
I did not found any word in user's manual ?!

Page 89 in Revision D of the manual (downloadable from the E-mu
site). No sign of it in the Revision A manual that came with my unit.

I'm wondering: are there any *hardware* revision changes in the units?
I suspect my Rev-A-manual, shipped-with-OS-1.01 machine is a very
early one, even though I only bought it last Saturday.

Tip: you can also hold Home/Enter and turn the wheel. This does the
same thing as dialing the "<->" field (stepping through notes/events)
and has the added benefit of leaving you on whatever field you were on.

It was added in the 1.31 release (by popular demand from this list, by
the way!!)

There's a 1.31 addendum at the page from which you download the OS at:
http://www.emu.com/products/pdf/pdf_manuals/xl7/CommandStation131.pdf

It contains all the new features added in this release!  Check it out;
it's got lots of good info.

It (that info) is in the OS1.17 addendum. Also, if you hold down ENTER while scrolling in the Note Edit page, you can sroll through your notes without having to have the cursor under the <-> field. Enjoy!

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
