I am trying to save a factory ARP to a new Pattern, with note data on
Track 9. I am recording it in real time using the XL7 key pads.
>>>So you're running a MIDI cord from the XL-7's output to it's input?
That's the only way you can actually record the ARP notes to a Pattern
track. Otherwise, they Arp is still part of the Preset, not a Pattern as
you suggest. <<<
As soon as I finish the realtime Pattern recording I save it. But when I
go back to play it nothing plays. Any insite? Do I have to save the ARP to
a new User Preset. Also when doing this do I select the ARP "M" or "P" or
"ON" setting when I save it?
>>>A few things to check here. First of all, set your Arp to P so that
it's controlled by the Preset's status, not the Master Arp. Now, select
the preset with the arp you want on the correct track and save the
Pattern. Go into the Preset edit menu next, and make sure the Arp is set
to on (I know, really obvious). Now, press REC and make sure that your
quantize amount is set to the correct value (ie whl, half, 1/4, etc). You
should be able to press the pads and hear the Arp sound as you want. Keep
in mind that when you do this, you're only recording note data for each
time you press and release a pad, it's not going to record the actual Arp
data. ONce you're done and happy, save the Pattern and it should play
back ok.<<<
