EMU XL-7 vs. RS7000

EMU XL-7 vs. RS7000

2002-06-27 by vsr123

Thanks to all those who replied to the previous post. It looks like
its going to be an EMU for me too but as one last step I thought I
should check out the RS7000. Its about $400/- more than the XL-7. I
know that the RS7000 has a built in sampler and the XL-7 doesnt, has
anyone used the RS7000? any opinions please?

thanks again

I asked the same question a while ago. and I ended up with the MP-7 & a yamaha a4000 sampler. What I got was a sequencer better than the RS7k and a sampler better than the rs7k. sure I paid more. But not a whole hell of a lot more (a4000's are going for $600 on ebay)

Hehe, I need to add this to the FAQ! You don't honestly think you'll get
an unbiased answer on a list dedicated to the XX-7's do you? :)

Of course not, there are even people on the rs7000 message boards trashing
the xl just because they own an RS....your best bet is to just find one and
use it. If you have a small local music shop that carries them (not a big
chain like MARS), then they will usually let you take them home for a few
days and play with them (of course you usually have to leave them with a
credit card #, or a state ID).

Actually if you get it from a Guitar Center you have thirty days to flat out return it for another piece of gear. I would definately suggest getting the XL7 and an A4000 combo though, since you should be able to find stuff for much less on eBay or from one of the online shops for much less.
