xx7 questions

2002-07-14 by mvmdub

I just got my mp7 a week ago and the more i use it the more i like
it! Still scratching my head a lot though.

Does anyone know if I can copy a 4 step track at step 1.1 and then
lengthen the pattern and paste into the track at 2.1, 3.1, 4.1, etc...

I'm also curious as to how some of you may be using your xx7 with
your computers. I read that some people were dumping the midi files
and importing those into Cubase. Is that the best way to take
something sequenced in the xx7 and edit it in a computer sequencer?

thanks,m

In the Pattern Edit section, you can set the measure length...if it's set to
1, and you record some sequences, then scroll farther down in the pattern
edit menu, you can select to 'extend sequence dat' to however many number of
measures you desire, and it will copy all of the midi data in the first seq.
:))
As for computers, I bought the xl7 so that I wouldnt HAVE to use my computer
anymore!

>>>Make sure your pattern length is set to 1 measure, then use the Extend
Sequence function to lengthen the pattern. <<<

>>>Typically I begin most of my patterns right in the XL-7, and then once
they're pretty close to finished, I'll E-Load them into the computer and
Import into SX. That way I can add groove quantizing, shift notes, do the
random velocity thing, etc. It's much quicker for me to do the nitty
gritty in there, and then Export the MIDI file back into the XL-7 for live
use. Is that the best way to use the computer? Depends, as we all ahve
our own way of working. <<<
