Hi, I just got the XL-7 and haven't quite gotten my head around this concept yet; maybe someone here can shed some light on it for me? If the sequencer is only 16 track, what good does it do to transmit 32 channels of MIDI? Shouldn't the sequencer be 32 track also? Mark

I think 32 channels mean 16 channels for the Midi A interface and 16 channels for the Midi B interface. By looking at the back of the box you will see Midi A out and Midi B out. After reading a bit on XL-7's chapter on "assigning tracks to Midi Channels" I think you have to program a particular track to destination Midi A or Midi B or both. I hope this makes a little sense, I'm still learning the ropes (just bought mine 2 weeks ago). --- mark@... wrote: > Hi, > I just got the XL-7 and haven't quite gotten my head > around this > concept yet; maybe someone here can shed some light > on it for me? > If the sequencer is only 16 track, what good does it > do to transmit > 32 channels of MIDI? > Shouldn't the sequencer be 32 track also? > > Mark > > > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Because each track can access all 16 midi channels on one interface, and/or all 16 external channels on the same interface (sending the same midi messages both internally and externally) A real world example of this would be to have all your internal B channels devoted to drums, and have a different drum kit on each track, then programming a drum pattern using a hihat from one kit, a bass from another etc, etc, all on one track.

The way I understand it, there are 64 MIDI chanels. 32 internal and 32 external. Each track can sequence to up to 16 channels. The power of these boxes is amazing! --- In xl7@y..., mark@m... wrote:
