Meter changes

2002-10-07 by bass17yl

Hello All!

Sorry if this issue has been covered. I did a search and couldn't
find anything on it, so I hope I'm not rehashing an old subject.

How do you (or is it even possible to) sequence a meter change
on the XX-7? I've got a song that's mostly in 4/4 time, but the
choruses are in 7/8. While in pattern mode, the 7/8 pattern plays
back just fine. But when I sequence it into a song, the song's 4/4
setting seems to be overriding the pattern's 7/8, thus adding a
half-beat at the end of the pattern before switching back to the
4/4 verse pattern. I love my XL-7, but if it can't do something that
Cakewalk 4.0 for DOS could do 10 years ago . . .

Any suggestions?

Clay

p.s. I just got it and haven't upgraded the OS from 1.01. If this is
a feature that was added in a later OS, please let me know. I
plan on upgrading the OS within the next few days. Thanks!

Exactly right. When in song mode, the song track controls the meter.
You'll need to insert meter change events. To do that you need the
list editor, which is in the latest OS, available on the website. Once
you download that, let me know and I'll give you a hand with the meter
events (which can be tricky...)

Okay, I got the new OS installed and am eagerly awaiting your
sage advice (-;
