Adding Presets/Sounds

Adding Presets/Sounds

2002-10-17 by alvinenglish

I am new to this group. I recently purchased the MP7. I would like
to have access to sounds that can be used for a solo instrument (i.e.
piano, organ). Is there some where new members can quickly get all
the background information like where to get GM sounds?

Thanks in advance,
Alvin

www.emu.com

go to the mp7 area and then hit accesories and look at the sound expansion roms available. There you should find what you need.

Well if you really need me to pick out something for you to buy, see below. Note, these undoubtedly contain GM-"style" sounds if not the precise GM subset. If you want a true GM or GS synth, check with Roland who invented it. Or a older Yamaha module which uses an advanced yamaha-style version called XG. Beyond that I am not sure what more I can tell you. Most computer sound cards, even Windows XP, have built in GM sound set. Otherwise you will have to go in and carefully pick the few sounds inside the MP7 (they are there, just not lots, I am sure there are some organs and basic pianos, if nothing fancy, in there) that work for you.

      9140 - Proteus Pop Collection $279.00
The 32 MB Proteus Pop Collection offers you all of the bread and butter sounds of E-MU's Proteus 2500 Module and PK-6 keyboard, providing you with 640 diverse presets that cover the sonic spectrum with everything from traditional keyboards and orchestral instruments to electric guitars, world percussion and drumkits.

            9088 - Sounds of the ZR $279.00
The Sounds of the ZR Expansion ROM faithfully reproduces the diverse sounds of ENSONIQ's popular ZR-76 keyboard, including William Coakley's Perfect Piano. You'll find everything from synths and orchestral instruments to one of the finest pianos ever sampled in one soundset. Put this collection of ENSONIQ's finest sounds to work in your MP-7 today!

                  9082 - Protozoa $199.00
E-MU presents the 16 MB Protozoa expansion ROM - the ultimate sound compilation containing presets from the ground-breaking Proteus sound modules, all optimized for your MP-7's advanced synthesis and filter architecture.

Re: Adding Presets/Sounds

Unfortunately, the MP7 I purchased was a display model and did not
come with the required software on a CD. The sounds coming out of the
MP7 were very off-key. I was seriously considering selling it.
However, a MP7 CD arrived yesterday from EMU. Hoping for some
improvement in the sounds, I promptly reloaded the presets. Oh Man,
what a difference! It sounds great! Don't think I will be needing
that GM sound module after all. Apparently, some one really screwed
up the presets before I purchased it.
