Thought of some more ideas for OS enhancements while working on the box
last night, sorry if some of them have been mentioned before:

- A way to hear the notes as you scroll in the Note List Editor.
- An option to copy preset and EFX routings at the same time when copying
tracks to new locations.
- The ability to select a note range when cutting, copying, and pasting
tracks.
- Erasing and cutting tracks shouldn't stop playback. Same with appying
quantize (nothing should stop playback ideally)
- The ability to listen to quantize and transpose settings in real time.
- The ability to change the ROM location in the Preset menu without the
preset numbers going back to 000:0. IE, if you're on Preset 098:7 in the
XL-7 rom, and you want to go to 098:7 in another ROM, you should be able
to place the cursor under the ROM name and scroll without is defaulting
back to preset 000:0 of the new rom.

Hold down HOME/ENTER while scrolling? This has worked since at least
the Morpheus. I don't have my XL-7 here at the moment but this works
on the Proteus 2000 - I just tried it on one of our units.

Interesting, I'll have ago at that on the XL-7 when I get home, thanx!

This is my first Emu box, so I don't know all the old tricks :) We need
to get a tips and tricks page happening or something!

Good ideas, particularily the erasing a track without
stopping....personally, I would prefer to be able to use the 'erase' button
in a full note mode in realtime as while, instead having to try and hold
down multiple notes at the same time in a thick track. That's one feature
that always made the MPC's so fluid...that along with the continuos
play/record while doing pretty much anything in it, and the adjustable note
speed on the drum roll (repeat) button. I'd love to see any or all of these
features implemented. My personal main reason for buying an XL7 in lieu of
an MPC2000 was cut down to one thing...the total allowable notes in the ram
(mpc only can handle 120,000 I think). But at least it could easily save to
a zip or floppy disk. Never had to use my computer with it for anything!

Mmm, I'll stop ranting before I too carried away... after all, I DO love my
xl7, I just miss some of the easeful comforts I've had in the past with
other gear.

I'd also ask the ability of sending ARP to the midi outs in when the
track is set to EXT (not only when set to BOTH).

OR

Send program changes to the midi outs when the track is set to BOTH.

Either one of the above would be ok :)

I'd like to second that one...and an individual note out to the internal
sequencer via the arp....not just key on and key off...

Yes! I just stumbled on this last night and was about to look in the
manual, but I guess it's a no no, yet. How inconvenient. :(
My XP50 allows that in microscope mode by pressing the ENTER key IRRC
and that's *really* handy, especially when someone has no master
keyboard to press the right key and find out what sound is assigned
to it.

Again Yes! In a more general way, all sequencer functions should be
applied only to a selection of events if needed, using multiple criteria
(note, velocity, duration, whatever), a la Logical Editor
in Cubase (and, to a lesser extent, like some Roland sequencers).
Without needing the sequencer to be stopped would be great, but if
it's the price to pay for such an extensive sequence editing method that
still would be fine IMHO.

Looking forward OS2.0 (or maybe 2.3 if debugged :)
