Well it's huge sounding. Must truly be the most capable monosynth yet. Not to mention a great effects box for any source. i believe you can make this thing do a lot of what the Linn Adrenalin can do given its 4 part step sequencer. There are extensive modulation destinations and many many sources too. There are tunable feedback loops and distrortion all over the place if you want it. It sounds like what it is, which is a state of the art melding of the best stuff from the past: true analog oscs (2) with 2 analog resonant filters (1 for each channel--although a monosynth it is a true stereo processor) but all the controls being via dsp control and hence a lot of control indeed. Add two digital oscs with wavetables from the Prophet VS and the sequencer and the only thing you want anymore is to buy more (they can be ganged together under single control to make a poly synth).

Well priced to. Since Dave Smith is doing everything himself and orders are direct only, the price of $475 which includes shipping is far less than it would have to be if the unit were available in stores. Makes my beloved Pulse shake in fear.

I would liked to have had an arpeggiator as well though. Perhaps in future O.S. updates maybe.

Can you set up the stereo filters to be controlled at the same time, ie
with only one knob?

Re: [xl7] Evolver

The filters are always controlled with the single cutoff, res, and adsr, however there is a spit parameter which when increased, moves the cutoff of one filter up while pulling the other's down. This is pretty wild. The filters are only parallel with one for right (a single analog osc and a singe digital osc and external input) and the other for left (same stuff). At the end of the chain, you can keep, lessen, invert or make mono the stereo chain. Everything changable that I have mentioned is a modulation destination as well. So you have a lot of control for doing pretty wild things. Many of the patches and sequences in the initial patches witht he shipped units (all memory is ram, can be completely erased) sound like two or more synths ganged together instead of just one little one.
