patch selects

Does anyone have any idea how to setup the MP-7 to acknowledge the
patch selects sent from any midi Software? I'm using Sonar and Cubase
VST 32. Whenever I send a patch change instead of going to say preset
MP-7 location it defaults to the preset User location. This limits me
to just those particular sounds and also doesn't allow me to access
my Xlead sound chip at all. Any help will be appreciated.

There's a couple of ways to handle this.

The easiest and most direct is to have your sequencer send out bank select
commands to the MP7. Each sound ROM has its own MSB number and the banks
within go from Bank 0 =0 to bank 3 =3

The User bank has a MSB of 0

the XL7 bank has a MSB of 14

The MP7 bank has a MSB of 15

And another method...

The XX7 (and other Emu modules) has a preset mapping facility that is set up
in the MIDI menu with the screen showing MIDI PROGRAM CHNG (see pages
148-149 in the manual). This lets you specify any incoming program change
number and assign it to call up an preset in the XX7, from any bank. So you
can quickly organize your 128 favorite presets to be reachable without using
bank commands. You could even use this to spoof a General Midi capability
if your so inclined ;-)

Maybe it sounds too easy, but I had the same problem using Cubase, I just
used pattern save. Now I build the sequence in Cubase, but save the sounds
with the multisetup and suddenly it worked, when I restored multisetup when
starting up. It also worked when I sent the Sysex (whole multisetup) data to
Cubase...I don't know if this helps, or that the problem is somewhere else

Good luck

That's how I do it too, I save my sounds to Multi or Pattern. It's not
that hard to set it up in Cubase, but it's far faster and easier (for me
at least) to just save them in the XX-7.

go into midi edit mode and turn the rechanalize midi input to :on
record (or off if there's and option -- the latest os only has on
record or on).

This should allow your mp-7 to recieve any channel and program
changes instead of "re - chanalizing" it to the track and preset on
it's lcd

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
