Losing MIDI connection

Losing MIDI connection

2002-11-26 by kacy.rayburn@kmzr.com

I'm using the Proteus 2000 and the MP-7 together and my problem is:

Well first let me give you an idea of how I connected the gear. I have my
MIDI Controller, MIDI out to the MIDI In of the MP-7, MIDI out of the MP-7
to the MIDI In of the Proteus 2000.

Now the problem is, For a day or two the connections were fin I was able to
sequence the instruments from the p2k into my MP-7 via MIDI, now yesterday
I keep losing my MIDI connection to my p2k. It's kind of like MP-7 would
not send messages to the p2k telling it what notes to play.

Would anyone have any suggestions on what I should try to do to fix this
problem.

I've already made two songs with the p2k and mp-7 mixture of instruments...

Kacy,

Midi out A or B? Are you trying to control the P2K from just the XL,
the controller, or both? Page 138 of the hard copy manual(150 on the
computer version)discusses the merge feature. Just verify that the
command is set to what you want and secondly, verify that the nidi
cable is not the problem.

Later,

The track assigns, including external/internal MIDI assignments, are saved
with each and every pattern independently. is it possible that you might be
sometimes using a pattern that does not have these settings saved to send to
the external MIDI port(s)?

Well actually when I began a new pattern I make those changes in the
pattern edit menu to "ext." but I'm not not getting an response from my
external sound source.

Then it seems like you need to check the P2K. Is the midi led on the
P2K flashing while the sequence is running?

Re: [xl7] Re: Losing MIDI connection

Hey M2,

Well the LED is not flashing on the p2k, but what I did do was connect my
midi keyboard controller directly to the proteus just to see if it is
working fine. and it works great. Now when I reconnect the gear back the
other way (i.e., MIDI Out A) I'm still not getting an response.

Any suggestions

Re: Losing MIDI connection

2002-11-27 by M2

If the midi led flashes when your controller is hooked up then the
P2K is fine. Did you use the midi cable that went from the XL to
the P2K when you hooked up your controller? Try that first. If
not, then you have to go thru the midi and master menu's and make
sure the out put channels are set correctly(We need to double check
those settings)

Let us know.................
