MP-7 vs. SP12

MP-7 vs. SP12

How does the MP-7 stack up against the ol Sp12 soundwise?
can you get the same feel? I'm in the neighborhood for a
drummachine. Thanks in
 advance :)

I wouldn't really compare the two. I have an SP1200
sync'd to an MP-7 and get the best of both worlds.
Overall feel on the MP-7 is really nice, but it doesnt
have the thick sound of the SP1200.

yeah, it's hard to compare the two. i've owned both and they are
both great in their own way. the technology of the two are so far
apart it's hard to make a real comparison. the MP-7 does have
some nice crusty drum sounds. obviously they are high-quality
recreations of old dirty 8 bit drum sounds but i was surprised at
how authentic some of them sound. i think anyone looking for a
good hip-hop drum workhorse would be very pleased with what
the MP-7 has to offer. i was and i am.

Drummachine=Machinedrum!

But Electronic Musician did say that the Machinedrum's biggest competitors included the E-mu command Stations. I am unfamiliar with the SP12 sound and feelwise.

I agree. I sold my SP-1200 early this year. I was very attatched to
it but found
myself using it less and less. Then without a stand alone drum
machine,
decided to ditch my Proteus 2k and invest in an MP-7. I use it far
more than
the P2k and SP-1200 together with more than the functionality of the
sum of
the 2. I have the capability of making my own ROMs for the MP-7 so
some of
my old library I used for the 1200 I can slip into the MP-7.
I think you'll dig the XX-7 line. I belive there's more good news to
come next
year with the rev 2.0 OS. And at today's price, the XX-7's are
untouchable by
anyting in that price range.
