Yes, you can do this but you need to go into the Global Menu and set the
Effects Multimode Control to "Preset on Channel ???". Where ??? is the
midi channel of the preset you want to save the effects with.
The catch? This is a global setting, so from now on when you switch
presets, the effects will change as well. Works fine if you're just
poaying one Preset at a time, like in a band or something, but it's not
good for applying effects to all of the Presets in a Pattern. Check the
FAQ for more info on the effects implementation in the XL-7.

Check the > FAQ for more info on the effects implementation in the XL-7. > Having a preset "control" the effects system has one benefit that is not obvious. You can create special "effects presets" in order to save settings and routing for later recall for use across the entire XX-7. One way to do this is to just dedicate a synth channel like 16B for effects control and set the global settings as described above to 16B. Now any "effects preset" loaded into 16B will give you a setup usable for the entire XX-7. This is superior to using saved setups because it does not have the undesirable side effect of changing other things you may not want changed. You can also change effects on-the-fly between patterns or even inside a pattern, though I don't know how well the effects system handles rapid changes.
