noise in the headphone output

2003-03-01 by alocaster2001 <alocaster2001@yahoo.com>

I would like to know if anyone has noise in the headphone output of
the xl7. I hooked up some headphones today and was suprised to find
noise in the output, it is not to be found in main or sub outs. It
shows up in 75ohm and 600ohm devices. Thanks for anything you can
offer.

If your unit has been opened (in the purpose of fitting some ROM SIMM
for instance :), it's most likely the infamous grounding problem many
of us encountered after doing so.

I'd suggest you do a search on the list archive. There was a quite
informative response from Aaron at Emu's about this very issue.

Thanks so much for your help. Sure enough it was the connection
between the base and the case. A little movement and tightening and
away it went. I think I am going to make an rf gasket for it, braided
copper in rubber base. This forum is the dogs biscuit.

I do occasionally if I have the 12v lamp plugged in. Sometimes I just
need to 'jiggle' the headphone cord too and it goes away.
