Mike, you guys have a compilation of tips from that list? I just can't
join another list right now, I have too many as it is. But I know myself
and others would love to see what you guys have done so far. Not to take
anything away form your group that is, I'm just too busy to monitor
another email list :)

You may wan't to check out IBGEEK it is a user group listed under
the links section of this group. It deals with the creating of
sounds with emu gear.

there is just a file with "chords as text txt files" section. It is
pretty small concidering how long the group has been around. And I
honestly am not much help. I have been so short for time that
documenting my programs has not been a big priority.

It on the other hand is a great place to go to when you are like
HMMMMM what the hell do i do know? Just can't figure out that
sound. And get some ideas from other folks to get yer juices
flowing.

I will post the most advanced preset I have up at IBGEEK so you can
see my IBGEEK side.

This is the "Dam big EQ with LFO and Aenv" preset for the XL-7.

Ok in concept i wanted to make a slightly more dramatic and extreem
version of an eq. with a lot more control than just a three band eq.

Ok this is what i did.

Take the Kit-tr808 kit well that is what I used you can use what you
want but I don't know how it will sound.

remove all the cords out and set the Amp env so it sounds the way
you like it. You have to set the volume to -96 just like in the
nifflas eq. Then paste it to layers two and three so you have three
layers of the same thing.... sound familer? :)

P.S. when you take all the cords out it will sound fuckt till you
fix the Amp env.

Ok now take layer one and set it up like this...

In ranges setction...

KEY:LO FADE HIGH FADE
C1 000 C#1 000
In the tuning section...

Coarse: +5 Fine +0

Filter section

steeper 6LPF
Freq: 255 Q: 0

Cords as follows.
cord 1 midiA>AmpVol +080
cord 2 MidiE>FiltRes +100
cord 3 MidiE>FinePtch +016
cord 4 MidiE>FiltFreq -097
cord 5 MidiI>filtFreq -100

Ok dont panic that is the most complicated layer

Ok layer 2

Delay section
SOUND START DELAY
0 1

Filter section
Band-pass2 4BPF
Freq: 90 Q: 0

Cord section

cord 1 MidiB>AmpVol +100
cord 2 MidiF>'filtRes +080
cord 2 MidiJ>C04Amt +100
cord 3 MidiJ>FiltFreq +100

Ok layer three

Filter is the shallow 2 HPF
Freq: 161 Q: 0

cords section

cord 1 MidiC>AmpVol +070
Cord 2 MidiG>FiltRes +100
Cord 3 MidiG>Pitch +100
Cord 4 MidiK>FiltFreq +100

Phew it did not seem that long when i was making it!!!!

Ok you are almost there

Now take layer 2 and paste it to layer 4

This is the idea. I have now had a little more time to look at this
and have expanded it a little furthrer so if you are intrested in
taking
your 808 to the moon then look no further.

Ok now that you have that set up this is how i added more
flexability and useability.

I went into the cords section and worked backwords from #24 just to
make sure that I did not interfear with the other cords that I set
up.

Starting with cord #24 do this....
Select all layers, simply select the little A in the top corner of
the window.
and do this

cord 24 MidiD>VEnvAtk -050
cord 23 MidiH>VenvDcy +096
cord 22 MidiL>VenvRls -100

now go back to layer 2 and set up this cord
cord#21>LFORate +008

and in layer 3
cord #21 MidiP>LFO2Rate +007

Ok now that that is done I set up the Lfos like this.

Layer 2
LFO1 SHAPE SYNC
triangle free run

LFO1 RATE DELAY VAR
    8/1 00 000

Ok and layer 3 lfo #2
LFO2 Shape Sync
PAT:oct key sync

LFO2 RATE DELAY VAR
   4/1 0 0

If anyone actualy lays this one out please let me know what you
think of it I like it alot so I hope you do to.

I do relolize that this is a long program to make but it is so dam
nice I have been using this in a track that I am wrighting and the
flexability of it is incredible. I can see that it will be used
many times in the future and I hope to see how this cord set works
on other rythem programs.

Had a play with it, but not too sure what you were setting out to do
exactly. Interesting kit though....
