OT: Quick EMU Ultra sampler question

OT: Quick EMU Ultra sampler question

2003-05-16 by Biomech

I am about to order an EMU E5000 Ultra and, before I do, I have a
quick question for any EMU EOS sampler owners. What exactly defines
a part? The E5000 is 16-part multi-timbral. Does this mean that a
drum kit, for instance, could be considered as one part?

Biomech

PS I also posted this in the E5000 group, but I need a quick answer
and the XL group is more active.

Yeah that's right. When they say 16-part they really mean that it's got 16
midi channels... and even then you can have more than one layer per channel
(up to 32 in fact)... so the only real limits are the fact that one key can
trigger a max of 32 layers, and you have 64 voices in total, which means you
can 64 different sounds playing at any one time.

If you get an E6400U or above, there is the option to expand to 128 voices,
but considering this option costs more than a new E5000, it hardly seems
worth it...

Regards,

Stu

16 midi channels. 16 patches at once. Yes, a drum kit is a 'timbre'.

But, why are you buying a new one? There are so many used ones on the net.

bIz,

I got it for $435 USD brand new. For that price, I couldn't pass it
up.

I bought my through Alto Music out of New York. They sell a lot of
music equipment on Ebay. You can also buy direct from their store
but I'm not sure if they will honor the $435 price if it isn't an
Ebay auction. It's worth a try though. They seem like a great
company to deal. They shipped my E5000 same day via confirmed
FedEx. I should have it on Tuesday.
