Patterns/songs

2003-05-23 by Jacob Talkington

Has anyone here posted patterns/presets/songs to load? I've found
some mp3s and factory banks, but that's all. I'm curious to see
whatcha'll come up with!

Howdy

Check out http://www.iuma.com/dl/EmuCS/ the group held a song contest
not too long ago.

Is it just me or does the track El Verano Complicado have a
"riff/influence" from one of the tracks on download's microscopic?

Who wrote the tracks by the way?

I want to post some Presets, but most of mine use both the XL and the
P2500 Rom. Wouldn't be much good unless people had both :(

Re: [xl7] Re: Patterns/songs

Shit man, they're the reason I got into e-music in the first place (you
should see pics of me in my goth days!)! I could listen to Last Rights
all day long, by far one of my favorite albums. The Ghost Of Every Room
was pretty kick ass too, especially the tune with Ogre on it "Frozen Sky".
You know SP has a new album almost done right? Yeah, Dwayne's gone (RIP)
but cEvin and Orge actually settled up and got together one more time.

Favorite CD though would have to be Download's "III", man what a really
really intense and groundbreaking CD. I've had more awesome nights
listening to that CD than any other, off my rocker on little pieces of
paper, but fun none the less...

Shit, I know I'm listening to when I get home now...

RE: [xl7] Re: Patterns/songs

cEvin really opened my ears to layering and improv patterns. Puppy tunes
are little too heavy for me now days but I don't think I could ever turn
back what picked up from them. They are an acquired taste but I think
that's a good thing if it takes a long time to digest a track there is
real substance to it. I understand cEvin uses real drums/Vdrums quite a
bit I would love to pick up on some of his programming techniques those
early tracks could not have been more than an 808 and an alesis
sequencer.

RE: [xl7] Re: Patterns/songs

Nah, he did all of the early drum stuff live using a Clavia dDrum setup,
with some of the pads triggering noises, loops, etc. The kit was HUGE,
one of the biggest e-drum setups I've seen to date.

Re: Hey Realm !

2003-05-27 by xromxx7

In fact , your Drums methodology has changed my way to work on that
beast and I'm sure I'm not the only one .... I wish any tips could
have such an effect on me , unfortunately this is not the case !!
Ah ! if only you could go on and develop a little further on your
working methods (i'm sure you've got some ass kicking tricks left to
share with us.....Organisation , efficiency is what crackhead
musicians like me need the most...just to stop loosing presets or
giving away messy projects !)
You could help me alot in detailed description on how do you prepare
your live sets , how many patterns you're using for a song ,I'm
asking this because my top notch patterns are 32 bar long some are
even 64 bar long (yes it works ! bar counter stays stuck at 32 but
you hear it all !!!):useless for real live performing but they were
generated as is and can't stand partition (transition sucks maybe
they are too much buzy!),do you make your patterns to fit only in
their respective song or to be blended with another ones ? Do you
work on pre-defined transitions or just rely on improvisation ?
I could go on and on like this but I don't want to write a novel (too
late , I did!).....Yes i'm curious about everything that could lead
to some kind of improvement....Your live experience could be usefull
not only to me , wanna read great tips not answers to lamers much too
lazy to open XX7 handbook .......Since the departure of EMU folks
(AARON !!! SEAN !!! WHERE ARE YOU ??!!!)you are the last one that can
maintain the level of excellence typical to this forum , so don't
leave us alone boy ! Thanks again for your dedication to this place
