quick answer for newbie please

quick answer for newbie please

2003-05-24 by juggalodown

I have a new Emu MP-7 hooked MIDI (probably incorrectly) to my
Ensoniq ZR-76 keyboard. When i play the keys on the keyboard, i hear
both the preset from the mp-7 that i want and also the note/sound
from the keyboard. Is their a setting i am missing or something?/ I
would like to hear the mp-7 sound only. Can i also record this mp-7
sound into the sequencer and recorder of the zr-76 as a track
also ?? Is their any good beginner MIDI sites out their that could
help me figure out how to get my PC to recognize the MIDI signal
from the mp7. I tried to upgrade to the new version with eloader but
it wont recognize or communicate with each other.

thanks
Nick

I don't recall specifically how to set this (I've only been an
owner of the XL7 for three days now), but you can set the machine to
only send MIDI trigger data instead of sending AND playing a preset.

It's described pretty early on in the manual if I remember
correctly.

Also, I'd just like to say that this is one of the most whoopass
machines I've ever used. I used to have 3 of the Electribes (EA, ER,
and ES), and even for entry level machines they weren't particularly
intuitive. This beast is amazingly powerful and easy to learn!

pattern edit
page 7
set the midi ch to inter to hear the internal sounds
set it to ext to hear other midi devices in the chain
set to both to hear both ..

hey who ever wrote about the es being inferior check yourself ..
with those machines you can get some bad ass ideas down quick and as
far as live pay goes it so easy to write patterns right on the
fly ..simple machines but very effective ones ...peace

I said it wasn't particularly intuitive - not inferior :)

create a patch on your keyboard that is just silence. a blank patch. or if it
will let you, you should be able to tell wether to use internal sounds or jsut
external. cant help you with computer bit though
