Odd time signatures/Grid Mode??

Odd time signatures/Grid Mode??

2003-06-11 by Chris Stack

Anyone out there using their XL-7 to do odd time signature stuff (7/8,
5/4, 11/8 etc) in grid mode?

The Manual gives a little info on how to deal with 3/4, but 7/8 has been
eluding me. I can't find how to get to the beats that won't fit on the
16 buttons... the 17th thru 28th 1/6th notes in the bar.

When I attempt to and hit play, I can see them go by but I can't figure
out how to get to them to edit them.

Anyone done this?

Also, I do a lot of live music for bellydancers using (real) bouzouki,
flutes and various percussion. I plan on working more electronics into
it (in the vein of Peter Gabriel's "Passion").

Just curious, anyone else out there doing anything similar? Having fun
with the World Expedition ROM?

Chris

Not yet, but I'd love to work with some belly dancers if you need a hand
(or a foot, or a ....) !

I actually have worked with belly dancers, both playing live and
providing music for them.
They are a hell of a lot better to look at than me!

I've just been working with a contemporary dance company in Istanbul -
does that count?

(The sound source for the score wasn't the XL-7 though; it was a
1970's Brunsviga mechanical calculator...)
