RE: [xpantastic] encoders for the Japanese Matrix-12?

2011-08-08 by James R. Coplin

I'm not sure if I posted here but this year I finally found a suitable
replacement for the encoders in Bourn's encoders PEC09-2325K-N0015. Digikey
is the only place in the US I've found that stocks them. I'm not sure what
if any difference there is in the Japanese and American Xpanders as far as
the encoders. The Bourn's are not an exact drop in replacement as they have
a different physical footprint. I used some rubber washers to center them
in the mounting hole and had to use some wire to extend from the solder lugs
to reach the board. Not a big deal at all - it took me less than an hour to
replace all of the encoders on mine. They are also cheap. I bought two
full spare sets to have on hand for future repairs if needed.

Subject: [xpantastic] encoders for the Japanese Matrix-12?

Anyone know where/what equivalent encoders for the Japanese made Matrix-12
are available?

I have a Japanese made Matrix-12 that has sat unused for almost a year. It
is missing a single encoder and some buttons have failed. I managed to find
some replacement buttons for the American M12 but they are slightly
different from the Japanese version which means some wiring needs to be
done.

At this point if I can't find parts soon I will have to sell at a loss. Any
help is appreciated.

thanks,
