Hello, Every integrated circuit in the M12 is in a chip socket. It's quite possible one or several of the IC's have worked loose. Another possibility is that one or more of the ribbon cable connectors have come loose. If it were me, I would first check the ribbon cables. If that does not give a positive result, I would re-seat ( carefully remove and place back in the socket) each integrated circuit on the display board. Try these things, and see if that helps. Thank you for allowing me to join this group. I previously posted at the >Oberheim group under a similar name. >I am in the process of fixing up my Matrix-12, possibly for sale in a few >months. It has a few cosmetic issues because the foam in the road case disintegrated and left a residue over most of it, which I tried to clean up (more on that later). First off, let me say it is perfectly functional. All voices work, knobs and encoders are OK, LEDs are fine. It has the individual voice outputs and the pressure sensitivity mod both working fine. The one major fix needed is on the displays. There is one character on all three displays that is intermittent (it is the same character on all the displays). It will blink and go out without warning, but come back just fine some time (days even) later. I know of the Benden Tech replacement displays, but that seems a bit overkill for the problem I am having. I am not afraid to open it up and probe around with a voltmeter, and I have the schematics. Before I dive in there, has anyone else had this problem? Or can anyone suggest a troubleshooting approach, things to look for, etc? Thank you - j
