Matrix-12 working

Matrix-12 working

2012-07-26 by Terje Winther

Hi all,
Just back from a few day´s of Holiday.
Got a new DAC, and now the Matrix-12 is working perfectly! All auto-
tuning procedures complete all right, and everything is in tune.
I will do some final outside service tomorrow (install new rubber feet
and some new hardware), and this M-12 will be like new.

Hehe... One day, maybe.
But I am really looking for an Xpander now.

The Xpander doesn't do Midi to CV it does CV to voices.

No, I don´t need the MIDI to CV.
I am much more concerned about the size and weight, as I do live gigs
with my gear. And the M12 is hugh!

Yes, it is amazing how such a small thing can stop such a large synth. I experience that a lot in synth service. It can be the smallest object in the last VCA, and the cost of the part can be small, but it can take a while to find it. I am very pleased with the final results on this Matrix-12.
Thanks for all your help.

All the best,

Terje

Xpander CPU Board

2012-09-23 by Do It Yourself Synth

Hello,

I'm currently testing my Xpander CPU board replica. All is working fine but...
 - when I'm testing the MEM, it reports RAM0-2 as BAD (it should be OK).
 - When I'm testing ROM version, it reports 4.4 for the tape firmware (it should be 1.0).
So, since I do not already have a Voice board, I want to know if someone can test his Xpander with the voice board unplugged.

Thank you.

Hi,

That's really a good news.
Here the results with my Xpander:

* With the voice board PLUGGED, I have:
MAIN PROCESSOR: 1.2
VOICE VERSION: 1.6 (this is a special case, I think I have a Matrix-12 voice board into my Xpander)
CASETTE: 1.0

* With the voice board UNPLUGGED, I have:
All LED are light up
Display showing : "VOICE PROCESSOR MALFUNCTION"
MEM test: all OK (RAM and ROM)
VMEM: shows "TESTING" and hang the synth. When switched off/on, the synth is still blocked, I needed to do an hardware reset (turn on while keeping the finger on "CLEAR").

MAIN PROCESSOR: 1.2
VOICE VERSION: 2.0
CASETTE: 4.4

BTW, I'm the author of the Xplorer editor (http://xplorer-editor.com ). If you plan to add some functionalities through MIDI, I'll be glad to include them into Xplorer. please let me know.

Thank you very much for your help. So I know the version number trick is normal. I have to work on the RAM problem.
My first goal is first to do a 'basic' Xpander. I'll will try updating the firmware later.. ;-)

PS : you are french (free.fr) like me. I'm living in Issy les Moulineaux (near Paris).

I'm almost certain the BAD RAM message is not something to be worried about. My Xpander gives the same error message, haven't noticed a single issue. The previous owner before me said the same thing.

Fantastic, despite this error message, I successfully load the full factory presets into my CPU board. Thank you for the information. I did not attempt to test this before since I was sure it was a real problem.

Thank you again Omar !

no problem! eventually it would be good to know exactly what the error message really means and if there is truly any real impact to the synth. but as far as I can see and hear from how I know how to use the Xpander, everything works as expected.
