Xpander vs Reason

Xpander vs Reason

2013-08-22 by Jeremy Smith

Hi folks,

I've been listening to Futurecop recently. I hear they use Reason, and
they use it very well.

So how does Reason compare with the hardware Xpander?

My opinion is that Reason doesn't sound quite as good, but Futurecop
just put it to better use.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Good question. I think Thor is fantastic and the modulation possibilities actually exceed the Xpander in some ways... i.e. use of Matrix sequencers, tons of Rack Extensions concentrating on modulations and the like...

Also some great new synths as Rack Extensions.... e.g. Antidote...

I love the ease of use of patching cables to CV inputs and outputs...

I have a Matrix 12 and think there is something about that particular tone that can't be replicated... but its not better just different...

Thanks for the response! It was helpful.

I answer my own question after some Googling:

Q:When you DJ, whats your preferred set up as far as software and
hardware is concerned?
A:Traktor, with the Traktor S4, Korg Kaoss Pad 3, and Ableton.

Q:When youre writing a track, how exactly do you go about whipping up
that inimitable Futurecop! electro cotton-candy-80s-glam-wam-bam sound?
Software? Outboard gear?
A: our Juno 60 or Korg MS2000, and we have a Lindrum too

Cheers,

Jeremy.
