Casio CZ1 Patches by Narfman96
August 13, 2006

Here are 450+ patches made exclusively for the Casio CZ1 synth. These are sysex patch bank dumps complete with Operation Memory patches. The Op Mem's are the factory defaults with the sysex patches from each bank included. Some of them sound really good others are weird as I didn't redo any of them yet. Polyphony suffers accordingly.... I used Midi-Ox for the dumps.

These patches were from a huge sysex and text CZ1000, CZ3000, CZ5000 library of over 2,000 patches. Mostly the louder and better sounding patches were used. This gave a good base to add the DCO, DCW, and DCA velocity settings for the CZ1.

Sorry if I changed the name of your favorite patch. With 16 characters some of the names had to be condensed quite a bit. The velocity settings on the CZ1 take a little off the total volume of each sound. Let me know if you feel these are noisy or flat sounding. I did the best I could with what the synth has to work with. I really enjoy creating sounds for my keys. Let me know if you have a special sound you're after. Maybe I can help. I also have huge Unisyn and MidiQuest libraries.

I tried not to use any commercial sounds. If you find a patch that you feel shouldn't be in this collection drop me a line at:
Narfman96@yahoo.com I will remove the patch if it's in violation.

You can see by the file dates this work was done on and off over the course of a month. The only payment I require is your feedback and send along any special patches you would like to share.

I really enjoy this synth after having a bunch of FM and Rompler's to program over the years. The Casio phase distortion synths are as unique sounding as they are to program. Casio could have made these more powerful if they looped the envelopes and gave the modulation something else to do but vibrato. But hey, maybe a PD computer emulation will come down the pike someday and save all of us. Let's hope it is engineered to use some of the state of the art features like NI's FM7.

Feel free to use these patches as you wish. Long live our hardware synths!!!

Rock on, Narfman
