DTXPress

How to use:

One Time:
1. Hook up both in and out cables from DTXpress to your computer
2. In Sonar go to Options | Instruments
3. Click Define button
4. Click Import button and import the .ins file
5. Click Close button on the "define instruments and names" screen

For each project:
1. In Sonar go to Options | Project
2. Choose the MIDI in tab
3. Choose Echo Mode = None
4. In Sonar go to Options | Instruments
5. On the assign instruments screen, choose port 10 on the left and DTXpress on the right.
6. Create a new MIDI track
7. set "IN" to "MIDI OMNI"
8. set "Channel" to "DTXpress" (which is port to because you assigned it in step 2)
9. leave "Bank" on "Bank---"
10. choose whatever patch you want (the DTXpress will change to that patch AKA drumset)

Notes:
1. When you open the midi track in piano roll view, you will see just a few note names that seem to work across most patches.
I didn't have time to set up all the note names for every patch. (I do have a life :-)
2. There are a few patches marked Do Not Use. I don't know why but if you choose them it hoses th DTXpress with a buffer overflow
and you will have to reboot the DTXpress and restart Sonar to recover.
3. This .ins file is for DTXpress. Not DTXpress II. There is another file for the II out there.
4. Many thanks to Stephen Beaumont who created the DTXpress II which was the foundation of this file.
