Set your midi channel to whatever your synth is using. Make sure the Unit number
is 17. Make sure that the OVERFLOW function is OFF!!! Very important.
The D-110 does not support the "status" function.
Then try to read data from the sgu. You can save it to a file.
You should be able to open files and send them to the SGU. Finally, you can
create a new (blank) document and drag sounds from other banks to your blank
one. When you drop sounds, it overwrites what was there before. It does not
insert and shuffle everything down to make room. Once your new patch bank is
ready, you can send it to the SGU and/or save it.
When you double click on a sound, the part 1 temporary timbre is set to the
new sound. So if you want to hear the sound you just double clicked on, make
sure your controller keyboard is using the same midi channel as your part 1.

The file format for the D-110 only saves the 64 user programable tones. I don't
save any timbre information or patch information. The program was made to
allow people to trade sounds. It's not intended to be a general purpose SGU
setup tool. You should probably use your sequencer for that.
