If you are like me you may be a little lost in the number of beat divisions Logic affords you. There are 960 ticks per quarter note. This is great resolution. However, how many ticks per dotted 16th note? eighth note triplet? This Excel spreadsheet helps you rapidly determine this. It is color coded as to which note is being referenced (8th, 16th, 32nd notes are various shades of red/orange, triplets are bluish). There is another column that identifies these notes (or some of them) by the number of dots they have, just another visual cue if you would rather work this way. I suggest you print this on a good color printer, trim for size and laminate the result. Keep it next to your keyboard for all your editing adventures. Soon the values for an 8th note, etc., are memorized but this guy should get you started on knowing your basic note lengths. Have fun, Bob Vandiver
