I also must credit Radio-Electronics and Popular Electronics magazines (and for it's short run,
Electronics Illustrated) for getting me started. I remember the Nixie tube clock project (about
1973). The KIT was like $225. But I was amazed that SOMEBODY was smart enough to figure out how
to make one (mine had the little flip cards, remember those?) I read that 1 issue like 50 times.
After Electronotes was discovered,I was a goner (I *had* gone to college on an organic chemistry
scholarship).
