Myself, I wouldn't consider MOTM kits to be DIY, but they approach it.
Partial Blacet kits edge closer... something like Oakley would be.

I like a lot of the kits, and beleive me if the MOTM stuff was more
affordable I would be buying a pile of that, but for myself, I can build a
two osc monosynth for almost the cost of two of Paul's ultra VCOs..

I agree, its not dead, its more of a sort of 'back room thing' now than it
was in the 70's..
