         Thanks again. This is all looking fairly complex. I was hoping it 
would be simple but like everything, the Elvis is in the detail.

Would it then be fair to say that it's not a good idea to gas-weld 
aluminium due to the O2?

I never did gas welding. I went to one of those schools where an oxy kit 
was considered to be just a far more effective weapon than a pen knife. And 
almost as portable.
         "It's OK Mr. Teabreak we're just welding this kid's head to the 
bike racks."
I could only dream of a miss-spent youth of my own. But I digress.

Anyway, I'm wondering if some kind of gass welding set up might in fact be 
better. Though I'm thinking primarily of fairly small work. Terry brought 
up the fact that you have to have welding goggles etc with arc welding. And 
I remember people saying how difficult it was to do intricate work under 
such circumstances.
