[sdiy] Solder pots?

I don't use a solder pot at home. One place I worked, the assembly
area had a solder pot, and I found it came in handy. It works particuarly
well on the heavier gauge wires...in fact, I have tinned #2 guage wire in
one, it is the only way to go. They do heat up somewhat slowly, but, you
would tend to leave it on until you didn't need it any longer. I would
just dip the wire in flux, then dip in the solder pot.
However, at home, I still have not been able to justify having one.
Also, my cats might get into it. So, safety for my kitties is another
issue.
