[sdiy] Plastic Panels

Hello dear list,

I'm just getting ready to start preparing the panels for what will be
(finally!) my first finished synth. I've been considering plastic as an
alternative to aluminium, though it seems to me that list members use
aluminium almost exclusively. 

Are there any significant disadvantages to using plastic (other than
perhaps of not being able to ground the entire chassis)? If plastic is
not such a bad choice, could anyone recommend which plastic(s) would be
best to use?
