If you use Ferric Chloride or Ammonium Persulphate, there are no fumes to
speak of. These are salts, which only affect metals (and not all metals).
There is no real hazard if you get them on your skin, but I suppose you
should avoid eating them. Always wash your hands thoroughly afterwards. I
don't use any protective clothing, and I have done this for many years.
