Agreed. In my use, there is no audio going threw the dip header, only
decade counter outputs so I think I'm safe. It was a no brainer - 16
counter outs through a 16 pin dip header - too easy to pass up.
Analogue Systems uses these dip headers for their power distribution from
the motherboard to the modules as well, but double up to two wire pairs for
reasons of current flow. I think this is a little risky and have elected
not to use these dip headers for this purpose and went with the 'standard'
(if only there could be such a thing) four pin molex configuration of 1=
+15, 2 and 3= ground, 4= -15.
btw - for any of you who concern themselves (rightfully so) with power
distribution, Cynthdustires has relased a very nifty little distribution
board called the Combo Distro, which not only provides a connector bus for
the config mentioned above, but also adapts each to the MOTM three pin
format as well (you have two connector options per bus tap). Smart idea and
a good solution to what otherwise would/could/should be a headache.
electronically speaking,

be smart and separate audio from CV though. Maybe a line of gorund in
between is enough?

Re: [sdiy] 16pin dip header Just want to add tast (IMHO) dip header cables
are the best. I'm using them for the interconnects on the five Milton
boards (counting engine to the four bank boards) and they are reliable as
all get up. In contrast, on my first sequencer I used Molex cabling (a
whopping 96 signals via these connectors) and things aren't always working
as a result.
My feeling, save the hassles for the truly mysterious parts of DIYing and
keep your interconnects as simple as they ought to be. For me, this meant
dip header cabling.

Oops,
I just sent this message, but not to the list. Mouser has them, you need to
buy the ribbon separate and assemble them yourself. They are on page 178 of
the older catalog 607 I have here.
Part number is 151-2P16 and $.83 $.64 if you buy 10

Hello,
Can anybody reccomend good source for 16pin dip
headers for ribbon cable? I've checked around the
usual places: mouser et. al. I'm curious if someone
here knows of the end-all source for cheap reliable
dip headers.
Thanks in advance,
Ethan
