I try to avoid any wiring to panel mounted parts as much as possible -
better to use PCBs for multiple pots/switches, and then use ribbon cable
back to your main PCB.
http://www.colinfraser.com/p3/images/p3-005-inside.jpg shows the rear of
a panel with 34 pots, 27 switches, and 24 LEDs.
The whole unit took one evening to put together, and it worked first
time ;-)
