[sdiy] OT: a question about wiring an audio setup

Sorry for the off topic post, hopefully some people here have a lot of
experience in this area and don't mind sharing :)

In a situation where you have a mixer about 75 feet from the speakers, is it
better to have the amp near the mixer with really long speaker wires, or
have really long rca cables and the amp situated near the speakers?
Also, what gauge of wire should be used for the long length?

Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

Also, is there anything one should keep in mind when using a generator to
power a stereo system?
