There's nothing to stop you from designing a BBD delay just for
low-bandwidth uses, like LFO and envelopes. In fact, DC coupling would be
no problem with a BBD circuit.
You can also go the digital route, and there would be several potential
advantages--especially if you have a microcontroller involved. However,
most people would probably find designing with BBDs a simpler task. For
most of what you have mentioned, a BBD circuit would probably be enough.
