Yeap! If you look around on old schematics, like the Buchla 200 series and
many others, you will find that there is indeed such methods. A simple one
consists of only a single diode and a resistor added to the brew...

Also, fellow friends here (Ian and René as I recall it) have been
investigating this and I think you will find stuff in the archives as well
as their webpages. There are perfections to the simple techniques available
and those still come for a low price.
