I personally use this option. I send a click out to a dedicated output on my soundcard from logic pro into the 227e. I use the program's audio click, since it makes it easier to choose the click subdivision right form the arrange window(quarter,8th,etc), but you could set up a dedicated audio track if you'd like. You'll need to play a little with the click volume/tone in order for the envelope to translate it to a constant pulse, but it's a quick tweak.
