Just curious...
What exactly were you trying to do with the 256e where the aliasing got in the way?  
Personally, I think that the precision of the scaling and ability to set a breakpoint outweigh 
the aliasing or "stepping" issues (which I haven't found to be an issue at all).  So I am just 
wondering where that caught you.
