Passive Attenuators w/ 200e...

Passive Attenuators w/ 200e...

2008-10-05 by derwskee

Want to create some passive attenuators to scale CV's to inputs where
there is no input attenuation. Can you put some pots in a box hooking
CV IN to the input of a potentiometer and CV OUT to the wiper without
having a common ground to the 200e? I tried this with a pair of banana
cables, alligator clips and some pots and some values seemed to work
(unmarked pots unfortunately).

Any suggestions on using LOG vs. LIN and best values for this kind of
thing? Also, is there some place to tap into the common ground (tap
off one of the 1/8" audio grounds or something better?

Thanks for any ideas / help. Andrew

There's a banana jack on the back of the case, next to the memory card
slot, that provides a common ground for CVs from external sources.

I think that linear pots are the best bet for CV attenuation, in most
cases.

There is a ground jack on the back of the middle boat, at least in an
18 space cabinet.
