Does anybody have a scan of the 200e review in Keyboard? I'm antsy to read it and it hasn't hit the stands yet. Is Don feeling better? best, /\/\/\--->luther

I third it. : ) Haven't been able to find the November issue anywhere. Somehow I doubt it'd be ok to post a scan though. I'm really curious to hear what Mr. Aikin had to say about the 200e. He can be a pretty tough reviewer. --- In 200e@yahoogroups.com, RSA <wiard300@y...> wrote:

yes, it is probably of questionable legality to post a scan of said article. the new issue should be on newsstands in a few days. -RSA --- imabadbadkat96 <imabadbadkat96@yahoo.com> wrote: > I third it. : ) > > Haven't been able to find the November issue > anywhere. too bad we don't get the magazine over here in the UK. I remember Mr Aitken's review of the serge back in 97(?) was quite good, though I think he'd had one of his own in the past, sold to Vince Clarke if I remember correctly, and used on the cover of sound on sound years back. btw, next months sound on sound magazine will have 1st part of a 2part review of the buchla 200e (I think the £12k system from RL Music) + a retrospective on Buchla synths --- In 200e@yahoogroups.com, RSA <wiard300@y...> wrote:

Aikin's review was more of a general descriptive essay. He could have focused intensely on many flaws, but did not. I remember one on the "cons" of the Serge in his 1997 review was that it was expensive. Nothing of the sort on this one.... It is still a fun review, and the picture in it is gorgeous! cuari7 P.S.: Gus Gaona, if you're reading this, could you give me a ring? Phone # 904-537-7876 Thanx!!!!!

Hi, I am enjoying the KB mag article (+ picture), and the photo of Rick Smith's restored 200 sytem on page 98! I'm not a KB mag regular and was curious if anyone knows how to access the mp3 samples that Jim Aikin makes references to in his article. thanks, -TOM

I haven't been able to find the mp3s either. I don't think they're up yet. I have a feeling Keyboard isn't exactly quick with their site updates. --- In 200e@yahoogroups.com, "tmeade1974" <tmeade1974@y...> wrote: > I'm not a KB mag regular and was curious if anyone knows how to access the mp3 samples

funny, personally i think the example of the aliasing is the only sample that sounds great!
the other 3 are cheezy and dont do the modules they represent any justice

indeed the first time i barely touched the filter i had it doing far more interesting things and i didn't even really know how to use the thing at that point. not my system. i wish... that and those samples just sound bad.

Well, the aliasing is well represented there. And it makes me cringe, as always. As for the other samples, yeah, they don't quite show off the potential of the beast. Now where's my 261e...? cuari

Yep, that aliasing is...shall we say, rather prominent, isn't it? Still, I'm growing more and more fond of the 259e. It really does have a personality of its own. I don't think there's mistaking its sound for anything else. For me, two 259e's and two 261e's would be the ideal combination. : ) --- In 200e@yahoogroups.com, "cuari7" <cuari7@c...> wrote:
