Can someone please do a doco on Don.

He is one of the most important people in synthesis. Shit I may just get on a plane and go visit Don :-)

There are good docos on Elaine Radigue, Robert Moog, Pierre Henry, Peter
Zinovieff etc why not Don?

Perhaps he would rather not have a doco done on him.

On the other hand, a documentary on Buchla instruments going back to Subotnick and his bent radios might be a worthwhile subject. If you think about it, personality cults that group around an instrument builder rather than the instrument are kind of silly.

I'm sure a lot of you must have seen this already, but here is a 150-minute video of a Red Bull Music Academy interview with Don Buchla. I'm only just starting to watch it , but it begins with Buchla discussing the early days of developing his first synth, and being a part of the counterculture scene. He doesn't seem like the most willing interview subject, but the discussion is interesting and feels like an unedited documentary interview.

well put... i think don likes the mystique surrounding his instruments as well... there is so much sketchy documentation/misinformation and false memories that it could be tough to make anything that's historically accurate anyway..

I'd rather see a fear and loathing style piece of fiction with Don Buchla (as played by Colin Farell) as an Indiana Jones meets Macgyver type character.. oh it would need a 30-40 minute slit scan stargate sequence at the end where Don travels back from the future in his silver honda civic hatchback.. all the incidental characters could be played by hypnotized monkeys...

I can see Don getting behind something like that.

He, he....

How about Don being played by Ah-noald Schwartzneger, and as he starts having gradual deterioriation of his external human skin layer, you start seeing his internal components, like the MARF on the back of his skull or the LPG's on his massive chest....

Does Buchla ownership coincide with psychedelic drug usage?
