Wow, very sorry to hear of that, it's just your external switching psu, correct?

That's what burned up, yes. I'm assuming, and hoping, it didn't cause any damage to the 200e itself, but I won't know until I get a replacement. I found the same supply at Mouser, and Jon at B&A (who's been very helpful and responsive, by the way) said he would get one out to me tonight as well. With luck, I'll be back up and running tomorrow.

I was rehearsing for a performance at Experimental Intermedia in NYC on Thursday, so this was really inopportune. But better now than during the show.

Wow, I hope you get up and running in time and your performance goes well. Good luck, I wish I could be there.

On another note, have you thought of doing a tutorial video devoted to the Buchla way of doing things? Maybe something like you did for the Jordan Rudess Online Conservatory, which was excellent. I think it would be good for people who may not otherwise get the chance to dig in to 200e modules. Personally, I would love to see how you would build a 200e patch from scratch!

Re: [200e] Re: 200e Power Supply

Thanks, Barry. Fortunately, Jon at B&A was able to overnight me a new, more robust power supply, and with that in place, it appears that my 200e didn't suffer any internal damage from its trauma. (I particularly want to thank Jon for getting it out to me so promptly - he really saved me in this crisis.)

And I've finally gotten my studio aired out as well - burning capacitors really smell rank.

As for the tutorial, I've taken the first steps with that in a new analog synthesis series that will be going live any day now on macProVideo.com, called Analog Synthesis in a Digital World. Two-thirds of the series takes place in virtual analog synths, but the first hour or so is all 200e. That part is very basic and introductory, and probably not what you're looking for, but it's a start, and there may well be more installments in the series down the road.

In the meantime, you can see me building my master performance patch here:

Hey, that is good to hear. I'm really glad that your 200e isn't damaged.

I am looking forward to your macProVideo tutorial. I will get it when it comes out.

I have seen your patching video on Youtube. Thanks for posting that. Do you use this same configuration for all your performances? Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to seeing more videos of your performances. Very nice work.

I do. It's gotten more complex over time, as I've added to the original configuration, but this has been my working patch essentially since I got the system. I haven't exhausted it's possibilities by any means, so I expect to continue working with it for some time.

Thanks! There will be more, in time.
